This book is so good! I think it expanded on and added to the conversation that The Yellow Wallpaper, the short story it was inspired by, started.

The only thing keeping this from being a solid 5 stars was the ghost story aspect. It felt unnecessary to the plot, and I would have liked to have seen her relationships with her friends develop more instead of seeing so much of the ghost story aspect. But, this is a VERY good representation of chronic invisible illness, the range of reactions people have toward people with those illnesses, and the horrendous flaws in the medical system and how people with invisible illnesses/disabilities are often treated.
