Interesting story here. I liked it but there was a lot of build up to the end which was more deflating than a wow that I was looking for. This book is a mystery until the very end... but some things were disappointing with the ending.
SpoilerLike the astronauts, I thought something more dramatic would have happened... just like J did when she was talking about her nightmares, but when I was a kid I was afraid something would come out of the toilet so I guess I understand.

Romy is only sixteen, and alone on the spaceship Eternity. Her parents were part of a major NASA mission to settle on another planet, but Romy is the only survivor. Her only contact with Earth is the emails and audio messages she receives from Molly.
Then one day she is told another ship is on its way to meet with her.
The Commander of the ship, a young man named J, emails her. Though their messages take months to arrive, a relationship is forged. As Romy talks to J we learn more about how she came to be alone on the ship. A friendship seems to be developing, and as Romy struggles to make sense of the details she is told about how life on Earth has changed her source of refuge is J.
As the time for them to meet draws nearer, Romy finds herself under increasing stress. She starts to realise that perhaps the person she hoped would be her new beginning is not quite what he said.
The book seemed to be a cute fluffy romance set in space…then it became dark. James presents a character in an incredibly vulnerable position, then shows just how incredible she really is.
Not what I expected at all.

This book is disturbing. It is marketed - and even begins - as though it will be a fluffy sci-fi adventure with perhaps a touch of romance. But, in reality, it is a psychological thriller that explores the feats and limits of the human psyche and of pain.

I loved this book so much and it got to the point where I couldn’t put it down. However, I am not a fan of the ending and the twist towards the end, I understand what it was going for, but left me feeling sad when I finished the book. I couldn’t give it any less than 5 starts though as I loved most of it so much.
