Vampires, gargoyles, and fated mates? Oh my! I was super excited for this installment to the series and it did not disappoint. The snippets we get for book 3 have me intrigued enough to keep going, but I definitely hope we see the MCs from the first two books a bit too.

I think I fell victim to what I was expecting the story to be and what it was. Rune/Tower was more of a badass in the first book so I was expecting him to be more of that when it came to his uncle and his lackeys and more of a push and pull with Gothel.

Now when it comes to Gothel, well... I was underwhelmed really.

I think I'll bow out from the rest of the series.

Oh my.

Tower du Sang and Daddy Gothel.

WHEW! 🥵🔥

Shout-out to the indomitable grotesques, especially Raoul. Dude saw some shit and went through a lot. He deserves a damn medal.

Oh I wanted to like this book more. The reasons I don’t are definitely a me thing I think.
I really liked Tower from the last book and I was super curious about his story and him getting his HEA. However, it kinda felt in the first 40% that he was trading one manipulative man for another. Went from being under the complete control of his uncle to having to obey Gothel. It didn’t feel like Gothel cared for him all the much until he realized they were mates. He stole Gothel second in commands power of flight and felt bad about it when he did- and Gothel seemed to think he didn’t care. The spanking in front of people really triggered me. There is a lot of humiliation in this book without any warning at all. He was made to stand in the corner like a child and was called young man- seemed lowkey age play which isn’t my thing. I also didn’t like that he made it seem like feeding him was a reward? Like… it’s not? His uncle starved him, and then this guy makes it seem like he can’t be fed if he’s bad. Not only is there humiliation there is a crap ton of manipulation as well. Gothel has him sign a contract and tells him if he says red at any point the contract is null and void but he will never help him again. So essentially he can’t be uncomfortable with this guys actions at all without losing the hope of controlling his power and getting freedom from his horrible uncle.

I acknowledge that humiliation is a trigger for me, and some people like it- and like this story. This is all just my opinion- but I felt so upset with it that I personally cannot rate this well. If I had known there was this vibe in the book I would have chosen not to read it. Hopefully the authors will be a bit more detailed in their content warning sections.

Tower, the heir to a vampire gang, finds himself tasked with stealing a prized possession from Gothel, the ruler of the Sky Syndicate. Little does Tower know that this mission will forever change his life, especially when he'll have to confront his oppressors. As he meets the captivating gargoyle, a powerful connection ignites between them. With a promise to fix his flawed magic, Gothel offers Tower a chance for redemption and love. The chemistry between Tower and Gothel is scorching hot with its dominant and submissive dynamics, blood play, interesting locales. Tower's journey of self-discovery, his desire to break free from his uncle's control, and the allure of Gothel make for a great story. Tower and Gothel are both amazing characters, and I loved Gothel's right-hand grotesque, Raoul - it was so lovely when he got back what had been taken. Ultra-hot and steamy MM vampire-gargoyle romance with lots of action and intrigue.

I really enjoyed this! It was fun and light but still gave enough meat to have me wanting to know what happened next. There were a few plot points I wished had come at different times but that's obviously subjective to a point.

In real life I love gargoyles and grotesques so this one was bound to either be special to me or be a huge flop but I'm glad to say it was the first.
