2.5 The author tries so hard to write deep, literary prose, and fails so horribly, in the opening chapters that I almost put this book down. So much telling, too, trying to capture long periods of time in a short book. But once the big surprise occurs, mid-book, we get more actual scenes, and the interactions between our two romance heroes becomes far more interesting, detailed, and emotionally compelling. If Provenzano could stick to depicting scenes instead of summarizing events, and get an editor who would kick him whenever he strays toward the overly pretentious in his prose, I might find his future work of interest.

This is one beautiful coming of age story told in the POV of a quirky teen named Reid. I enjoyed Reid's voice.

The writing was good and engaging. The story is so beautiful and enjoyable. Not your typical YA story, but I found it so damn beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. The humor so good too.

The characters well developed and so damn likable.

I loved Reid and Everett so much.

This is one of the best YA books I have ever read to date.
