What a life
Joyce Maynard captured the struggles and the joy of being parents and creating a family that isn't perfect but your family. I experienced so many emotions reading this story and could easily read it again.

As a middle-aged white woman from the Northeast of the USA, this was a warm nostalgic read. At worst, it might have been a bit too much mundane reality. At best, a comfort in knowing we all go through "stuff" as our lives unfold.

This novel is a first--a book where I cared so much about the characters that I wasn't sure I could make it to the last page. Changes were happening and I wasn't sure I could take it, such is the power of Joyce Maynard's writing.
