felt like a draft for a book and not like a finished product, i liked the character but they had no depth whatsoever, you cant really make a good romance/plot within 270 pages so i didn’t expect much and therefore was not disappointed but also not proven otherwise. will not continue the series and would not recommend

I loved the organic romance to this story! It was so different to the other Blue Beech stories, not that I loved those any less, but I just loved how Hudson and Stella fell in love.
I've read the Blue Beech series completely out of order, (which can be done - they are standalone's in their own right) and of course I've left the very first one for last. I wasn't sure how to feel about Hudson or Stella after reading the others, but after reading Just Her Bodyguard, I LOVE these two!!
I now have a different sense of Dallas, Willow, and the of loss how they all felt when Lucy died, but from the POV of Hudson, who is this big stoic man, but also very sensitive (which was something I didn't get when I read the other books, but oh...sigh...he has a soft center under all those muscles). He is an absolutely amazing man and WOW, just wow. Loved him as a leading guy.

Stella Mendes, as a leading lady, is bold, asks for what she wants, and doesn't shy away, exactly what Hudson needs. Aside from all the sizzling chemistry, one of my favorite moments is when Hudson and Stella have a conversation about her forwardness, and I admire the directness of how Stella handles it. What normally could have come across as a moment that seemed almost bitchy because Hudson is questioning her directness, instead Stella explains herself as a woman who doesn't shy away from her sexuality and is unashamed about what she wants. It is empowering and more women should take notes on these moments. I mentally gave Stella a high-five.

As for the main plot, they each have their own personal issues to get over, but their attraction if off the charts and once they decide to let their own issues go, their chemistry just can't be denied. Again, these two ignite the pages! The story revolves around Stella's career mostly and Hudson needing to be back in Iowa, but beyond that it's probably the tamest of Ferrell's Blue Beech storylines, which was also probably why the love sprang off the pages.

This is very close to one of my favorite Blue Beech novels!!

Just her Bodyguard was the perfect blend of Sexy and Heartwarming! I love Charity Ferrell and her ability to steal your Heart! This is book one of her Blue Beech series and it will grip you! Hudson Barns is a one in a kind, kind of man! Oh, the things I would do to him... sorry I mean for him (Wink Wink) He comes home to the most f****D up situation imaginable! And the horrible thing is, S*** like this happens all the time to soldiers! My heart bled for him! I would cut that B**** for him!! GRRRR!!! He needs to get out of Blue Beech for a bit, get some much-needed space, clear his head, let things die down. He decides to take a temporary job as the Bodyguard for Stella Mendes and Q the fireworks! Stella is everything Hudson didn't know he needed! The sexual tension between these two is so thick and suffocating it's a miracle I didn't get pregnant! These two have so many things to overcome and they have to fight hard, but it's such a beautiful love story! The angst is high and so unexpected! I got so caught up in this book my emotions tied with the characters! To me, that's the best kind of story. Just her bodyguard was very relatable and realistic, Read it! Take a chance and fall in love with these characters! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was decent.
Hudson is *chef's kiss* and Stella was great.
I guessed what would cause the “break up” early on. It was also kinda cheesy. And I think the whole reason for the “break up” was a little too… bad? Idk. Still enjoyed it regardless.

A little disappointed I don’t think that Stella or Hudson are mentioned in any of the other books. They aren’t related to the others. But it’s ok because the story was still good. Hudson’s brother Dallas asks him to go to La and body guard for Stella. That had been Dallas job but his wife Lucy has cancer and he wants to spend every possible moment with her. Dallas thinks it will be a good opportunity for Hudson to get out of town. Hudson just came back from serving in Afghanistan and had been engaged to Cameron for 3 years and came back to find out she was fucking his best friend, he was the town scandal. Everything he had heard about Stella was that she was a brat so he wasn’t looking forward to this new job. This book bounces in POV between Stella and Hudson. When Hudson arrives Stella can’t believe how handsome he is. She’s attracted instantly. For the movie that is premiering right now, stella signed a contract to fake date Eli, who is her co star. They have to go to events together and not be caught with anyone else. Hudson doesn’t understand why you would fake date someone for the fame. Stella multiple times tries to push sex with Hudson but he says he can’t share her and she’s with Ian. He tells her about Cameron and she understands how delicate his trust is. He eats her out and they almost have sex but he doesn’t have a condom. It offends Stella but we find out that Hudson and Cameron had had a miscarriage and it really hurt him. Stella and Hudson end up caving and having sex. When Hudson sleeps with Stella he doesn’t have his PTSD nightmares like he had before. He’s happy other than the fact she’s fake being with Eli. His happiness disappears when he receives the phone call from Dallas that Lucy has passed. Stella insists that she go with him to his hometown. Everyone is skeptical at first but Dallas worked for Stella for many years. She even paid for Lucy’s medical bills. Stella over hears Hudson tell Dallas that they’re just having fun. She’s falling in love. And imagining moving to his small town or him moving to Hollywood. When Hudson sees she’s upset he takes her outside of town and they talk and he tells her he didn’t mean it like that he didn’t think she wanted him in those ways. And they make love in his truck. The next day Hudson goes to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for his mom who is baking up a storm when he sees a magazine released of him and Stella in the truck. It says she’s cheating on current boyfriend Eli and Spenzer comes forth she cheated on Knox with him. Hudson can’t believe it, she’s a liar and a cheater just like Cameron. Willow (Stella’s assistant and best friend) had called her to let her know. Her contract lady is PISSED. When Hudson gets home he tells her they need to talk. He’s angry about the cheating but even angrier that he looks like a bad guy. He tells her she needs to release a statement that she’s not with Eli. She’s so worried to break her contract and throw her career away that she leaves. Breaks hers and Hudson’s hearts. Her and Willow mope togerher. Willows boyfriend had recently gotten into a car accident and was in critical condition and when he woke up he told her he wanted to live his life without her and that’s when she got to meet one of his side pieces. Willow and Stella are swearing off men. Willow keeps reminding Stella she could have Hudson if she would just do the right thing. Cameron confronts Hudson in the bar while he’s drowning his sorrows. She tells him she still loves him and bashes Stella and that’s when he yells that Stella wasn’t sleeping with Eli or going into bedrooms with him she was doing those things with him. Someone recorded this and it went viral. Willow pushes for Stella to talk to him. On the night of the teen choice awards. Stella and Eli get nominated for best couple. In her speech, she announces the truth. She confesses that she’s in love with someone else and her and Eli were just phonies. She had asked Dallas to make sure Hudson watches it. When she messaged Dallas he told her he was sorry but Hudson didn’t handle it well. When her and willow got back to the hotel room and we’re eating their weight in ice cream she kept wondering why willow wouldn’t get off her phone. Willow went to fetch her alcohol infused ice cream and she got concerned on what was taking so long. Only for Hudson to walk in her door. They confessed their love for each other. He told her he didn’t need big moves he just wanted to be her one and only. He didn’t want to fake it anymore. She tells him she wants a break from Hollywood and to move to his hometown for a trial run. He rents a house for them. Him and Dallas start working at their dads equipment business together. Dallas and his daughter are coping. Lucy was the love of Dallas life. And she died way too soon. He’s grieving but so relieved to have his family. Stella tells Hudson she has a surprise for him but Willow slightly spoils it when she mentions Stella’s trying to convince her to move there. Stella surprises Hudson with a surprise party at the cupcake shop. At this party she announced she asked her old producer about making a story in their small town and he jumped on it. So she’ll be filming in Blue Beech. Hudson tells her he only wants to do it if it’s what she wants that he doesn’t want her to feel like a failed actress. She tells him this is what she wants. He takes her to her surprise. He bought property off of his parents and wants to build them a home if she plans to stay and she says yes. They kept her house in Hollywood so that when they traveled back and forth they had somewhere to stay. The next morning willow is pounding on their doors. When they let her in they find out she had went drinking with Lauren and slept with Dallas. This is now 6 months after lucy passed. She says she has to get out of town and she’ll work as Stella’s manager from Hollywood but when he woke up he freaked out about what a mistake he made. Hudson went to check on Dallas and Dallas was beating himself up hard. Lucy was the love of his life the only person he ever touched and within 6 months he slept with someone else. Hudson tries to comfort him. Willow goes back to Hollywood and remains the name they do not speak of. 2 months later Hudson planned a trip for him and guys from his old battalion to start a group that helps soldiers dealing with PTSD. Their first retreat will be in North Carolina close to where they trained. Hudson breaks the news that Dallas can’t go on the retreat anymore because his daughter Maven is sick. Stella is worried because willow is coming to town to keep her company thinking Dallas will be at this retreat. So we’ll see how that goes. Hudson announced next month he plans on proposing. I’m surprised he hasn’t already considering they are building a house. The next book is Willow and Dallas!!! So excited for their story!!! I can’t wait til we get to like sierra and Maliki tho I think they have a story I guess I should have checked. Anyways. I loved this story. Even tho Stella had none wrong in her past, Hudson loved her enough to accept that flaw. They were two broken people who claimed they were going to have just a fling but both knew deep down it would become much more.
