I was intrigued enough by Jason’s Athos in America, his collection of shorts, to start reading his back catalog. I am not even remotely disappointed: Martians, duels, strong women, romance, space travel, and much much more. The Last Musketeer may be terse in page size, but it packs a wallop of a story. This is storytelling done right, to the point, entertaining, good character development, and not in the least superfluous in the art. I love how stark and monochromatic the art feels, which does not detect from the story but actually enhances it.
This is highly recommended.

Sort of a Monkey vs Robot feel with words, and hilarious lackey interactions.

gah so sweet. had me giggling heavy at my desk but then the last page 😀(weeping.) love the detail of the martians looking cat-like instead of humanoid that had me chuffed most of all

The Three Musketeers happened 400 years ago. Porthole is dead. Aramis is a businessman or some shit. Athos is still a musketeer, in a modern France that clearly doesn’t need him. And then an Emperor Ming ass mars attacks earth.
Jason is a classic weirdo, and this is a wonderful trip into his weirdness.

I really don't know what to think of this. It certainly was a bit strange but it was interesting and I liked it more than I thought I would!

Another Athos story by Jason, I think he’s his most reoccurring character along with Hemingway. Standard Jason fare which is better than most’s best.
