I've really enjoyed what I've read of Mariko Tamaki's graphic novel works, but this felt a little lackluster by comparison.
It's not bad by any means, but it felt like I was reading a middle-grade book despite this being YA. Somewhat thematically appropriate, but the simplicity of its writing and structure felt at odds with the subject matter the whole way through.
