Seen the movie. felt like it wasn't necessary to read because the first few pages were almost similar to the movie

The only thing this book is good at is making me want to throw up.

I really believed I would like this book. I was wrong. Very wrong. It was just unbelievably dull.

The first half is just Patrick boring dinners with “friends” and the endless name dropping of designers and brands and clothes’ descriptions.
When I say endless, I mean it.
Naturally, this is the author presenting us to Patrick’s sick psycho mind, I get that, but it's so repetitive and boring. Did I say it was boring?

The second half of the book mixes murdering with more boring dinners and designers’ names.

As you might have read, the book is super graphic, very misogynistic and his ”friends” are all douchebags, but all that seems appropriate to a sick character such as Patrick Bateman.

I nearly gave up on this book, but a little bit past the halfway point Bateman's incessant droning about designer clothing and his unhinged music reviews snapped something in me, and I think I went stark mad myself. Bateman's deadpan descriptions of the sheerest cruelties are so absurd that at multiple times I had to stop reading because I sat there, facepalming and cackling like a lunatic. Yes, some parts of this book had me in stitches. Other parts were, even for a seasoned horror lover like me, over the top disturbing.

I am glad I read this book, so any lower than 3 stars would be undeserved, but any higher than 4 stars is also giving it more credit than is due.

I'll watch the movie, don't think I need to read this story. Boring and repetitive. I get the point.
