This book is about a girl called Cas, who is the daughter of a rector. She lives in a dystopian state, where the country is ruled by the One Church. They live in a climate of fear, as the religious gangs and militias are constantly beating people up and enforcing the One Church's will, while the police turn a blind eye. One day Cas and her boyfriend Ming, who is always in trouble with the religious authorities, stumble across the body of bishop Todd. He is a very important and influential man, and his bloodied body forces Cas to bring back memories that she has buried in the depths of her mind long ago, and uncover family secrets which have stayed hidden far too long. A great book exploring love, hate, death, secrets, lies rebellion and opposition.
