Layout is phenomenal!

So funny! The artwork is gorgeous! I love that the text is in different fonts to fit each character. Very Mother Goose and Shel Silverstein vibes, just with “spooky” personas.

Cutest books in the world. I almost wish I had kids so I could fill their nursery with books like this

In this collection, all the familiar monster stories are given a humorous twist in verse. Dracula has a piece of spinach stuck in his teeth, but everyone is too afraid to tell him. Dracula’s son is afraid of the worst monster of all: the dentist. The Invisible Man has trouble getting a haircut. Rex takes beloved monsters and makes them funny for young readers. The verse is simple to read but supremely clever. He experiments with different rhyme schemes and styles, and some of the stories told are continued in further poems. Rex also experiments with different illustration styles. This book does require some background knowledge of the monsters involved, but both adults and children will enjoy reading it. It would be great in a classroom around Halloween. It is intended for readers aged 5-8.

Some of these are more stellar than others, but I love all the illustrations! The phantom of the Opera pieces were my favorites.

Holy Cow, this book is hilarious. The pictures alone made me laugh out loud, but the funny poems are also amusing. Great read. I'm so glad that my son brought it home from the library. I need to buy this.
