As this novella pre-dates Bram Stoker's Dracula it is an important piece of Gothic fiction.
In addition, having an element of a lesbian romance, I believe, would have been rare for that time period.
I definitely would not have enjoyed the book as much if it was longer; I think the length of it is appropriate.
Additionally, the fact that I listened to it on audiobook meant that at times my focus was elsewhere and this edition of audiobook was not my favourite.
I do plan to re-read this in the future in either ebook or hard copy format.
Nevertheless, I do recommend this book if you are interested in Gothic fiction.
