People are probably going to think that my rating is unfair but, sorry guys, it's just way too much dumb ass politics and machinations in this book for me to like it.

Great universe

I love how the universe keeps growing with new and interesting brings. The tension in this book kept me hooked.

While I have generally enjoyed this series and thought the Hegemony plot was fine, the Black Dawn portion of the plot was totally implausible.
First, the union is effectively broke but somehow not only has billions upon of billions of credits to throw at this but can somehow get it into the Confederacy (after years of war) completely untraceably. Second, Holsten has been running confed intelligence for years and somehow not one agent of his picked up any trace of this entire massive operation. Finally, once the scandal has grown to encompass hundreds of Naval heroes, not one person is able to do any forensic work to determine that the evidence is faked. Nope the Union folks are just that good (but somehow never decided to make use of those skills during the war). Sorry, not buying it.
