Loved the tv show and when I found out they where based on a book, I immediately bought them all and didn't regret it. I totally forgot I read these actually until my Brother recently went through all my books and found them!

They are a brilliant series and this being the first one was a great kicker to set it off. All the characters are introduced really well and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it.

I have been meaning to read this series. I read the two "Wizard of the Grove" books and loved them.

The description of this series made me skip these books. Instead I read the Tony series. Damn, I do adore Tony.

Yep, a little out of kilter here.

After all this time I finally read the first Viki / Henry novel.

Here's my fast take. Viki is a major pain in the ass. She irritates the hell out of me. I like Henry, and I want to see where Tony comes into the picture.

That is why I plan to read book 2.

Brisk writing, irritating characters (Nelson and Carlucci) interesting character (Fitzroy) make for a puzzle.

But I shall plug along.

Crap. Nothing original. From some of the references, like whether people turned their answering machine off or on, I thought the book was written in the 80's. When most had an answering machine(before cell phones), I thought everyone left them on all the time, and sometimes scanned their calls. So, I thought these were OLD answering machines, maybe from the 80's. I'm not sure of the publishing date, though. If it was written that long ago, maybe it was more original then.

Some of the minor characters were annoying. The main character was annoying. I don't like whiny characters.

The nature of the vampire and demon weren't interesting.

The plot wasn't interesting and not much happened.

I can't think of anything redeeming about this book.

I found this book difficult to get in to. I really struggled through it and it picked up at the end. By the end of the novel, I was pleased that I read it and decided it had been quite a fun read.
