Very enjoyable romance with a hint of erotica. Stuart's Mad Monks reminds me of another historical romance series with its own group of nobles with their "secret society of sex", unfortunately, I cannot remember which series this is. I think the author is Sabrina Jeffries but I cannot confirm it yet.

Reckless is particularly sweet as its heroine is a six-foot old maid who wears glasses and her fantasy goal is the hunk of society. Charlotte believes her secret passion is just that, a secret but Adrian has been aware of her interest for quite awhile and is just bored enough to pursue her. When her newly-widowed friend brings Charlotte to the weekend party of Mad Monks, all bets are off.

Another great book...This series has fast become one of my favourites!!!...Its dark, depraved and wicked good fun!!..It has jerk store heros and heroines who dont put up with their shit!..love it!
I also love the secondary romances in these books:)...almost as good as the primary ones:)

What an odd book. I was much more interested in the secondary characters' relationship and totally bored by the main one. Rohan was a real jerk and all his power plays seemed awfully non-consensual. I would have been really pleased if the book ended with Charlotte dumping him on his ass, good sex be damned.

I ended up liking it more than I expected to. Adrian came around and redeemed himself, in my eyes.

Wow, another great book from the Anne Stuart historical series. Charlotte was a certified spinster, she only needs to break the lace caps out to make it official. For the longest time she has harbored a love for Adrian Rohan, a rake of the first class. Before Charlotte broke out the caps she decided that she wanted some firsthand visuals on what goes on behind closed doors between a man and a woman so she along with a cousin spend time with the Heavenly Hosts, a notorious group renowned for an "anything goes" mentality. This trip leads Charlotte right into Adrian's hands to find herself either right where she wants to be, or one quick slip into her ruin.

Wonderfully told story with a little bit of naughtiness stirred in to make it just right. Love this series and can't wait until the next!

Love my representation of overly tall redheaded heroine. I felt this plotline was very similar to the first book in the series, Ruthless. Enjoyable story, more steam than first book which I did enjoy.

Well in truth I started this book first because I thought it was the first book in this series, and when I realized, after reading the true first book, that this book involved the son of Lord Rohan ... OMG !!! TOTALLY like father like son =D
Two small drawbacks :
- Seriously, how many assassination attempts do you need to realize that someone wants to kill you ??? DUH !!
- Finally I rather enjoyed the story of Lina and Simon and I'd have almost wish them to be the main characters ><
Anyway, aside from that, a delightful romance ><

I'm really surprised by this. It's been a while since I gave a five-star to an HR and to a bodice ripper, no less.

I was in a slump when I decided to take up bodice rippers again. I thought them more explorative in plot and heights, at least in some areas, and I was desperate for something different, something more...reckless. Taking this genre takes preparation because toxicity and other warnings are almost a requirement in this genre. This book definitely dabbles in crossing the lines, but fairly enough that it makes it a guilty pleasure and page-turner.

I'm also surprised that I really love the second couple of this book, sometimes even more than the main one. And that's rare for me because most of the time, the second couple is just an extra and something I couldn't care less about or just something I cannot wait to skip over. But Lina and Simon balance the story of Charlotte and Rohan.

The only problem I've got is that it is too short! I wanted more!

Series note: Books should be read in order for the backstory as the hero, Adrian Rohan, is the son of the couple in book #1.

While formed in the same mold as Anne Stuart's other dissolute and callous heroes, Adrian has a softer side that comes out in his interactions with shy and reclusive Charlotte Spenser, a 30 year old spinster whose scientific mind has led to an interest in learning about and experiencing sexual appetites for herself.

Adrian and Charlotte have incredible chemistry, but is does require a healthy suspension of disbelief to accept that the reticent Charlotte would so easily succumb to Adrian's advances.

The secondary romance between Charlotte's promiscuous cousin and a reformed rake/current vicar is exceedingly tantalizing, but unfortunately their wonderful banter and emotional connection takes a back seat to Adrian and Charlotte's sex fest.

The minor suspense plot is adds an enjoyable touch of suspense with a very smarmy villain.

All in all, a quick and entertaining read, and hopefully, I won't put off reading the next one as long as I did with this one.

My god this was beautiful. Anne Stuart's writing is just so immersive and heart wrenching! Adrian and Charlotte had such a deep connection and again this book like the first in the series it is a very erotic and steamy read but a lot darker than I'd usually read.

it also contains instances where the main hero is involved with other women than the heroine and while that would usually hurt me and completely turn me off a book Anne Stuart does it in such a way that it just adds levels to the main couple's story.

I am overjoyed that I rediscovered this author and I'm going to continue my way through her backlist.
