i always make some weird outlandish predicition in the beginning of books that come hiw more often than not turn out somewgat right.  normally theyre kinda fun and something i want to happen. The prediction i made at the beginning for this book, however ?? i didnt want that to happen for the life of me, i knew  i would be mad about it. But alas, i was fucking right, and i was also right about being fucking mad about it. this should not have gone the way it had, there was a great set up for something different however it didnt do that and i am pissed about it. the endings of these books are 2 for 2 with disappointing me and making me mad with the endings. which coincidentally sets up the next book to also piss me off, i am not looking forward to it.

I liked the build up in this one but the ending was kind of a jumble. I'm hoping the third one is a good transition from it.

Rating: 4/5 stars

The sequel to Caraval, Legendary picks up the day after the events of the first book and continues the story of the Dragna sisters in the capital city of Valencia.

💭 I enjoyed Caraval, but loved this one even more! The introduction of the character of Jacks was great (and I’m so excited to read the spin-off series and learn more about him) and I absolutely loved Dante in this book. I also felt like Tella made a great FMC and was a more interesting primary protagonist than her sister, which kept me a bit more engaged. Finally, I enjoyed the game more in this one and felt like the plot unfolded in a way that was interesting, but a little less mind-melting than book one.

Overall, I’m really enjoying this trilogy and excited to read Finale soon!

“Legend likes to be the villain.”
“How could I forget? That was always my favorite part.”

5 ⭐️

I forgot how much I adored this book. I think I really loved my reread of Caraval for the magic and the nostalgia, but I loved Legendary for its plot. And I’d forgotten so much!  What a treat it was to reread, and meeting Jacks again for the first time was a delight.

I do love the world and magic of this series! Legendary is filled with lots of fun twists and turns as well as betrayal and reveals. While I did see some of the reveals coming, watching them unravel was still very fun! (Also loved seeing Jacks again he's so special to me)

Sequels don’t always like up to the hype of the first book but Legendary did just that and more. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Tella in the first book but her actions made sense at the end of Caraval and I was able to get a sense of her character more in her own book than the last one. We got to see her backstory through her eyes and how those experiences shaped her into the person she is today and the way it was illustrated by the narrator was perfection. From beginning to end you can see just how different she is from her sister Scarlett in the way she decides to play the game during Caraval and the sacrifices she makes for the people she loves. Speaking of love, Dante was the best love interest for Tella in my opinion. We know that both of them aren’t the type of people to go into relationships so the way the reader is able to see the change in both her and Dante’s perception of love as the play the game together was absolutely heartwarming. From the tension and teasing in the beginning, to the jealousy in him seeing her with someone else even if it was fake, to the (many) stolen kisses in private and even their final kiss has me rooting for a happy ending to their love story in the last book of the trilogy. The twists and turns in this book were even better than the ones in the last book so I’m excited to dive into Finale and see how Stephanie Garber outdoes herself yet again!
