This was a rollercoaster! Everything that happened in the previous books seemed to come to a head here. Many old characters returned and we met new ones.
The plot was constant and kept me on my toes, and I was always questioning characters motives! It was also heartbreaking, I can’t say more because of spoilers.

Brilliant but completely devastating. And to think, its only going to get worse.

This was fine. I feel like with every book, you think you're actually getting somewhere and about to get answers, but you never quite get there. This was a great build-up to the finale. I liked that the author brought back a bunch of people that the siblings encountered on their journey, even if I'm not sure why. I love that the kids are doing some questionable things because of all the shit they've been through. I'm so sick of this series, though. Every book needs some kind of gimmick and Snicket can't help but spend several paragraphs (on several occasions) saying a whole bunch of shit that means absolutely nothing.

I can't wait for it all to end.

I think this is now my favorite in the series. As per usual, a lot of frustrating and sad things happened but I loved seeing old characters again and having more mysteries solved. I really hope the last book won't leave too many questions unanswered - I wouldn't be surprised though.

I'm not sure I'm into the whole list innocence allegory, and his literal metaphors is ugh, but the story is a bit more interesting. I think his attempts to make the first 5 crappy books relevant to the story is a bit too little too late. He's also being rather heavy with moral philosophy too on the nose and late in the game for my taste. We'll see what happens in the last book.

By far the most interesting of the series because it keeps you guessing, besides book one of course.
