This book is iconic for me. I read it twice in french and once in english. A great tale of growing up in a messed up world, surrounded by adults that don’t care. King does a great job of showing the immense space between kids and adults.
Graphic: Sexual content, Domestic abuse, Bullying, Child death, Fatphobia, Suicide, Child abuse, Homophobia, and Misogyny
There are a few trigger warnings for this book. It deals with heavy subjects and sometimes it feels a bit insensitive to some issues.heycolby's review against another edition

Something like this could only come out of the mind of Stephen King. Wow what a book, there is a brilliant novel here. Most people know the gist of this, a monster who preys on children by turning into the thing the child most fears, but the way King links the children with their adult selves and the creation of such a unique being as It, is what makes this book great. A lot of the time it seemed like the story was just words for words sake, but it was always interesting and entertaining.
I will say that I was not scared at all... I was more in awe at the imagination of King portraying the imagination of children. This is TMI probably, albeit hilariously relevant, but growing up I was actually afraid of the toilet, as in something coming out of the toilet, so maybe I got all that fear out at a young age `\_O_/` but it sounds a little bit familiar... Maybe I am less afraid because I am an adult, and like the book says, adult's fears are a bit more complicated, too complicated for It to encompass and attack with.
This took me a long time to read, but it was worth it. Definitely wordy, but parts made me think that that was necessary for the full story to be told. The story is about Derry and It so the history was really important. If you've read this far I thank you! Sorry for rambling on and on, I have a lot of thoughts.

Spoiler
I am not sure why they couldn't remember anything after, maybe the knowledge was too challenging for the brain to handle, the knowledge of the universe in that sense... I'm only speculating. It makes me really sad that everyone has to forget each other in order to move on and also to know that It is truly dead. Although the town is destroyed with It, at least there is a somewhat happy ending for the (remaining) heroes, although they won't remember each other anymore... I will probably do some research into the ending and possibly get back to this. This took me a long time to read, but it was worth it.
