Kasie West is where I go to when I need a destress - a fun, light read without all that emotional turmoil

Usually I think the romances written by Katie West are very cute. However, this time I felt the characters and the plot were lacking. It was hard to get into the story

“I have to keep her around. She owns me." He kissed the corner of my mouth. "You own me.”

Kasie West truly does not disappoint, this novel was simultaneously cute and heartwarming, as well as sad and meaningful, at least to me. I relate to the ML, Jackson's, issue with not knowing what your dreams really are, even though I'm older than all of the main characters. It's something a lot of people deal with, regardless of age, and reading Kasie's words about that in this really helped me feel less like screwup, or like there's something wrong with me. I also just love the main character, Hadley, it's fun having a main character be a competitive swimmer, and deal with the trials of that, as well as having a character deal with grief over the loss of someone she'll never know, and trying to live up to that memory. The romance was also really cute, it has a sort of enemies-to-lovers thing going for it, and I'm always a sucker for that. Definitely worth a read for any fans of YA fluff, with some important messages mixed in.

Maybe could have gone through a few more rounds of edits before it was print ready, but not a bad read.
