I'm not sure how enjoyable this would be to somebody who wasn't reading it in Paul F. Tompkins's and Paget Brewsters's voices but it was nice to have the origin of Frank and Sadie Doyle (and Donna and Dave Henderson). And being able to see and not just hear the action is an interesting twist on things.

Pretty great job by Acker to capture the voices of Saide and Frank. Really impressive and loving adaptation.

OMG! I just happened to stumble upon this comic at the library and had no idea The Thrilling Adventure Hour had such a history! (After I Googled it and found out about the show and podcast and everything.) I had never heard of it.

So hilarious! And so much fun! For some reason - even though i read the back - I forgot they were going to be monster hunters. Which made it even more fun!

And something that I hope I can say about myself sometime in the future:

We are astute despite being tootled.

And sometimes the best quotes are best out of context.

Your purse monster must be mistaken.

I‰ЫЄll definitely check out the other graphic novels.

Great fun: while it lacks the familiarity of the stage show/ podcast it's a great romp through a lot of horror tropes and cliches, which is what we love to see the Doyles doing.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour, it turns out, is a continuing theatrical performance and podcast in the style of old-time radio. As such, it’s full of action, comedy and thrilling adventure. This is their first illustrated tie-in graphic novel.

The contents range from straight-up science fiction (Tales of the USSA) through superhero action (Captain Laserbeam) to space western (Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars.) My personal favorite was “Down in Moonshine Holler”, about a millionaire undercover as a hobo seeking his true love; in this chapter he and his fellow hobos arrive in Jacksonville during their annual lottery, but something seems off…..

The art is nice, featuring a variety of webcomics and small press comics artists. Between the stories there are fake ads for the show’s sponsors, Workjuice Coffee and Patriot Brand Cigarettes. The latter, and the feature “Beyond Belief” about perpetually drunk paranormal detectives, means that parents might not want to give this to small children.

This is rollicking good fun, and recommended to fans of anthology comics and old-time radio.
