Not the worst book I've read, but pretty predictable and unrealistic for me.
<Spoiler>Finding the towel under the desk shouldn't be that difficult in my opinion.
The suspect at the time taking his life with a set of keys is totally unrealistic for me.(can't remember his name) Could you in theory? Maybe? Would it make more sense that he had a pocket knife, or there was something sharper than a set of keys in the cell? 100% yes for me.</Spoiler> would have DNF'ed it if I didn't already own it.

I felt like I was reading the script to a B horror movie. I gave it two stars because I at least wanted to read to the end to make sure I was right about who the killer was. Extremely predictable. There were several grammatical mistakes and issues with the continuity. It looks like something that someone may have written for a school project or something.
The main character was supposed to be a strong, female lead; but she was over-sexualized and exaggerated. An experienced New York cop would not be as incompetent as her partner, and she doesn't seem to know the basic police procedures that even a standard citizen would know.
Not awful, but I definitely will not read anything else by this author unless she does some more research in the area she is writing in.

Amazon gave me this for free. How kind. I'd never heard of the author or title - but given my love of forensic pathology I jumped right in. The book is the equivalent of what makes a really good TV detective drama better than a crap one. Ok so this story line isn't groundbreaking but it's really well written. For me, it's too on the fence between short story and novel - Id have liked the author to be brave and just go for it, add a bit more depth to the twists that are just plainly presented.
I'm not sure I'll ready the second book. But if you're after a quick bit of murder mystery give this a go.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were genuine and the storyline intense. I really enjoyed the connection with Carma and Harold. Twists and turns kept the story flowing and some unexpected revelations had my heart racing. I love being drawn into a book where it gives me such an emotional response. Well done to Tressa - hit the nail on this one.

Thought this might be a YA at first because the beginning has to do with a cheerleader, but pretty quickly it moves into an adult murder situation.
