If you consider that there are two separate characters, in two separate universes, and you bring them together in a completely separate way, then there is nothing wrong with this graphic novel. But if you've grown up with both characters and admired them for both their similarities and their differences, then this single incarnation of both is disappointing. The story is fine, as such there is, which is repetitive and really unengaging. The Shadow, however, is not the Shadow of the pulps, nor even the Shadow of radio. It is a hyper-Shadow, perversed beyond even the DC Shadow of the mid-'80s. The Batman is the newest incarnation with the orange outline around the bat-insignia, which signifies to me this is a new, commercial product and not a character to give a damn about.

Art was cool for the most part but I was not a fan of how the Joker was drawn. The story was just ok.
