To say that I cried is an understatement. This book hits close to home and I’m glad I read it. Honestly I think I should’ve read it sooner. It’s a heartbreaking story that sadly so many people can relate to. Hearing how David took on all that emotion and how he put it as his responsibility to get his son sober, I understood and then seeing him let go more idk how to explain how that felt but I just understand this book and yeah. I think no matter what your background is this is a book everyone should read. But beware cause it’s an emotional roller coaster

What feels like an honest reflection on the struggles of being the family member of a person struggling with addiction.

I appreciated the times when David really  stopped to analyze whether what he remembered is true or just how he has painted things in his memory.

I am immediately off to read Nic’s book Tweak.

As a person with a family member who is newly in recovery I was very interested in hearing someone else tell their story of how the addiction effected them, even though they were not the one using.
