A guy named Benny and a girl named America grow up together, the children of immigrants in crappy future America. America is becomes an anti-government agitator while Benny becomes some sort of Weird Al-type person. Eventually she's on the run and comes to him for help only he turns her in due to a promise from the judges that she'll be spared. She isn't so he has his brain transplanted into her body and becomes a sort of trans person who gives birth to his own daughter who he names America as well. Then he dies and the daughter grows up to be a judge, following her father's hope that she change the system from the inside.

It starts out as a weird love story against the backdrop of the megacity and ends as a pretty run of the mill detective story.

Left me kind of 'meh'. I enjoy the setting though. Wish I knew of better JD trades to pick up.

Let me tell you, the production, the full-cast audio, the narration, the entire package was just superb. I thoroughly enjoyed this short action packed audio book. It really was a treat.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much about Judge Dredd, which meant I had no preconceptions going into this story (which was possibly a good thing considering some of the feedback I read).

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House UK Audio for a review copy.

Tres historias y a cada una le daría una nota muy diferente, aunque todas aprobadas. El resultado es un drama con múltiples lecturas en la que los jueces pasan de secundarios a protagonistas.

Before reading this, I'd never read any Judge Dredd, and had no desire to (thanks, IRCB Challenge!). There were a few slow spots and despite it being really quite weird I found myself drawn back to it when I wasn't reading because I really wanted to know how it all would shake out. Robert the Robot is the best and would 1000% read a cutesy spinoff of him having fun and enjoying life.

Occasionally falls into the traps that comics trying to show how very mature they are fall into but this can be forgiven for complexities added to the city and Dredd himself.

It's a big collection and not all of it is in the America arc but the stuff that isn't feels like extra flavour.

This has a reputation as one of the best Dredd stories and it's well deserved.

Really strong storyline showing a different perspective on the Judges of MegaCity One, with some of the twisted aspects of the future city showing through.

For my second Dredd book, this one was pretty good. It's a bit rocky at the start, which might be either my needing to get reacquainted with the world he operates in or the design of comics from the era when it was created. Whichever it is, once the story really gets rolling it works pretty well. There are three shorts in this volume that are connected by a single "family". It takes a different approach by not being centered around the judges, though they are certainly ever present. I thought it was a neat departure.
