As much a story about grief and leaning on your family when you need them as it was a horror story about a Cree woman dealing with the death of her sister, nightmares, and a murder of crows following her. It was well written, and I found myself getting lost in the story. Canada Reads 2024 is off to a good start, and I kind of want to read it again.

A MUST read. When Mackenzie, a young Cree woman, starts to have strange dreams of her dead sister, she knows it’s time to go home again. With the help of her family and their shared secrets, she finds out what has been causing them.

One of the best horror novels I’ve read this year, it was unique and refreshing for the genre.

This touches on themes grief, generational trauma, and healing of indigenous people.
