A near-fatal case of poor pacing. Still enjoyable, though, for small scenes set on a dairy farm, at a house party, and (especially) in the cool, dusty living room of a housebound old woman. The author can write, but this would have worked better a book of short this-is-the-way-the-world-ends stories.

I loved her first book You're Not You, and so far this one is just as wonderful.
