This was the fairy tale book I grew up with and it never occurred to me until I was an adult that these weren't the actual stories themselves

This is such a good read; Garner's entire politically correct series is hilarious. The fairy tales with the modern twist (Wiccans instead of witches, for example) show how timeless these stories really are.

I finished reading this book right now and I confess it didn't amuse me all that much. Don't know if it was just me. It was funny in parts but at others tried too hard and failed. Still, it's a very interesting concept and I was entertained during my reading at all the attempts at being politically correct, like refusing to use the word woman or using terms like "chronologically gifted" for "old", or "vertically-challenged" to refer to a short person...

This was a little too on the nose for me; I liked the concept, not the execution.

I maybe know too many people who think this is how the world should actually be for me to find this particularly amusing.

This was a short book with retellings of kids stories in a satirical politically correct manner. It was ok to read once-a couple of the stories were a bit crap but I found Chicken Little's 'the sky is falling down' story very funny. This book is aimed at adults, not kids though, especially the Snow White story.

“At the house of sticks, the wolf again banged on the door and shouted, ‘Little pigs, little pigs, let me in!’

The pigs shouted back, “Go to hell, you carnivorous, imperialistic oppressor!”

This was a very quick and entertaining read. A lot of the more “politically correct” jabs like the ones above made me laugh out loud. I was surprised to see that this book was published in the ‘90s since it could’ve been more recent.
