While the preface does say it’s not a literary masterpiece and won’t have great plot, I think the pacing of this book was somewhat criminal. If it had been fleshed out better, and the character relationships had more chemistry it would’ve been a better read. If there's going to be no plot (which lots of good books don't have btw!) then at LEAST write the characters well - or even DECENTLY.

And by that I mean the first 25%(?) was about the characters growing up and a one-sided pen pal situation. I think the characters' personalities could've shined more if there was mutual writing or just more scenes from youth. The miscommunication was kind of chaotic, and the resolutions were honestly unhinged in an "this gives me the ick" way. The side characters' were certainly there just nothing important... besides Ora, who is just an archetype for delusional crazy girl who wants the MMC.

I think that all of the characters would be interesting if they had a chance to shine with some more interactions, build-up, tension that makes sense....., and healthy conflict. I'm just baffled at the entire thing really. And their ages... whew... "25" but make it mentally 16. The entire thing felt off.

Also it was personally too sexual for me (which is fine if the rest of the book held up lol), especially given the insta-love and lack of chemistry. It just made it not feel like genuine attraction (on top of the fact that I don't think we got almost any character description of the MMC besides "HE'S HUGE!!!"). I think if the author had sat for about five more minutes she would’ve been able to be a bit more creative with the work, and it would’ve been more immersive and interesting let alone tolerable.

I found this book through the author's Instagram reel advertising it, and I expected something sweet with some angst and morally gray, but it was just a weird (somewhat creepy) obsessive and flat read.
