not for the impatient reader. & neither the too young as at times it read like a book w adults in mind, or that it forgot it was for children.

Very funny!

Okay, it's not a terrible book, and I might have loved this if I was twelve. It's very repetitious, which I find annoying as a fluent reader, but it might be very useful for a struggling reader. I do like the references to Greek mythology. That would have been fun for me as a kid.

Perfect for fans of the Percy Jackson series.

Just reread so I could restart the series and it was really sweet, a quick read full of fun characters and adventures. I might knock it down to 3 stars this reading (I think I'm becoming a tougher reviewer!) but I'm leaving as is because it was generally solid and I'm out of practice reading books for kids (though this was in my library's teen section, it's a pretty young teen book).

You know how sometimes really tacky books are based on Shakespeare or Jane Austen and it's just sort of ludicrous that they are holding up this example of writing that they don't live up to? Well, The Shadow Thieves has the same relationship to the Greek myths. It held my interest juuuust enough for me to finish reading it. But then I didn't have anything else to read and there was a blizzard.

I learned a lot about greek mythology reading this book. I don't like to get bogged down with details but this wasn't too bad. The author was able to provide lots of information in a light interesting way.

It was just ok. Not as thrilling as the Percy Jackson Series... but not that bad.
