This is a primer on reading. Anyone who considers themselves a literacy educator should read this book! Great for preservice teachers of all stripes.

I liked the chapter on book ownership, something I am trying to get off the ground with a PTO sponsored book club.

Highly recommended book for librarians and teachers, it has lots of tips that go beyond the title idea of "Book access", and really helps in the process of creating life-long readers.

I cannot stress the importance of this book enough. Everyone in education should read this book immediately to understand the significance of reading for the joy of, creating an inclusive school and classroom library is ALL subjects. Surround kids with books and their curiosity, scores and intelligence shoots up. Find that kid who says they hate to read and show them that it can be the best thing ever! Change those minds and be a game changer!

A Donalyn Miller always goes on my t0-read queue, but then our district had our reading specialists read it as a team, where it was so beloved my LTC's passion inspired me to buy a copy that sat unread in my work bag for months and months until our shared supervisor recommended to the media specialists as a team read. Took it with me to the car deal for a minor repair, that morphed into a three hour 90% of the book read. I'm glad it went down this way, because I think I would have continued to dawdle. Took notes, came up with three top action items, and am ready to get back to the business of building a reader culture in the not-to-distant future known as September.

This book speaks my love language as I believe everyone really truly should have access to books. I have a library copy, but I could see myself referencing it often so will probably buy it at some point too!

Game Changer! Book Access for All Kids by Donalyn Miller and Colby Sharp
This book is a must read for English Teachers...of all levels. It details the importance of having books readily accessible for our students who may not have books at home, access to a public library or ever have visited a book store. It is a quick read (I finished in one day) but so meaningful.
