This was a short story by the author of "Wonder". Christopher is Auggie's oldest friend and this story is from his point of view. All the action takes place on one very long day and Christopher learns some important lessons about friendship - and that sometimes it's hard to be a friend. I really liked this book

It always breaks my heart to read more stories about Auggie from [b:Wonder|23302416|Wonder|R.J. Palacio|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1412358842s/23302416.jpg|16319487] or disfigured kids and how they are treated by other people, in general. Most of the time I understand both sides. I understand that a child is scared by someone who has a facial abnormality (I bet even I'd be upset) but at the same time my heart aches for the other person and the stares, the pity and the rejection they must experience every other day.

I'm glad Auggie has a friend like Chris even though Chris is far from perfect but then again he's only in 4th grade and still developing his morals.

What annoyed me was the rockband meeting because people just kept saying "dude" and it sounded so over the top and stupid. Also they chose to play The Final Countdown and the lyrics are later incorporated in the story. Like, seriously?

This was a fine little book. Except it was too short and ended very abruptly. In this book we get to learn about Auggie's 'other friend', Chris, before he went to Beecher Prep.

Chris got my nerves though. He was very annoying, ungrateful, self-centered little cuss. I also hated how he'd call his mom by her first name. Quit doing that, dang it. It irritates when kids do that. My friend's siblings do that with their mom.

This book made me wonder (see what I did there?) how a story of me would be while I in the 5th grade. Even if there was no Auggie, would I still be a dummy like Chris or Julian?

Read with the kids and had them rate it. "6 out of 5 stars because I enjoyed it and really got into it" - 11 yr old.

Palacio's sweet yet real touch is evident again as she brings us another character from Auggie's world. How lucky we are to be part of his world now ourselves.
