Dubner is an excellent writer. The first 4/5ths of this book are very good, and the last 1/5th (his analysis and struggle with his own religious questions visa vi his return to his Jewish roots) are gold. Gold.

Religion has driven a wedge between many people, in many settings, for as long as there has been human history. In this book, Dubner chronicles his own journey and struggles with the impact of religious differences in his own family. Some of the people in the story find it in themselves to accept that others believe differently, some cannot - a microcosm of the world at large. It's half family history, half journey of self-discovery, both of which I found utterly fascinating.
