Thank you, Junie B. Jones and Barbara Park, for introducing me to the joys of reading.

I read these books as a child. I can attest that Junie B.'s behavior did not turn me into a brat (mostly because I already was one (JK!)) and that the made-up words did not turn me into an illiterate. In fact, these books introduced me to reading, developed my attention span, and helped me not to be intimidated by long series. It acted as a gateway to other serialized books, such as Judy Moody ([b:Judy Moody was in a Mood. Not a Good Mood. A Bad Mood.|930612|Judy Moody was in a Mood. Not a Good Mood. A Bad Mood. I'm glad to know that I read banned books at a young age, though there wasn't much to see. Even at a young age, I knew the difference between how Junie was behaving and how I should behave, and between her made-up words and proper English. Still, I found humor in it. Hope no one stops their kids from reading these. It is a fond childhood memory of mine to dig into these two or three at a time.

I read just about all of the Junie B. Jones books & I absolutely loved them but this one was my absolute favorite. I remember I stayed up quite late on a school night because I couldn’t put the book down.

5 stars.

Read this one for a library book bingo - childhood favorite.

Junie is a pill. Being a mother now- I’m realizing what a big yikes junie is.
But she’s cute and fun and this was a nice throwback for me.
