Murder at Lambswool Farm
Back at Sea Harbor and they need to save the local farm.
Their town actually has a doctor who makes house visits. Dr. Allan has taken on a docter who buys half the business and he has no more heirs to continue on the family practice.
Glen comes to town and has a medical background but also wants to write a story about the town, especially the history surrounding the medical practice. He delivers two sheep one night and the doctor has been murdered.
Arsenic poisoning. Women of the knitting group try to solve who did it-they know Glen's car was fixed within a day but he stayed on many days after. Maybe it was the partner in the business, maybe the handicapped man Dr. Allan had fired...there is also no will....
Love talks of gardening, farm and sea shore. Shrimp recipe and felted bowl knit pattern included from farm dinner table.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Fairly formulaic, but a pleasant, easy read. Nice to hang out with Nell and friends at the seaside.

I love everything about it but one thing. I wish the story moves a bit faster.

Book 11 in the series.

Another fun outing with the knitters of Sea Harbor. Birdie has restored her beloved husband's family farm and is offering harvest dinners catered by local chefs. As a test of sorts, Birdie invites all her friends, family and a stray stranger to participate in the first meal. During the meal a friend and neighbor gets ill and is rushed off to hospital, where he dies.

The whole stranger aspect was transparent. I knew what Glenn was hiding from the very beginning, but I also knew he couldn't have been the murderer ('cause too obvious and how would he have access to the good doctor's food on a regular basis?).

The rest of the story kept me guessing and even though I did figure it out before the end, it was an enjoyable, light and fast read. I enjoy the main characters and their stories and will continue to drop by Sea Harbor whenever I get the opportunity.

I won this through a goodreads giveaway and had never read any of the seaside knitters mysteries. The author makes it really easy to keep track of characters with a character list at the beginning of the book explaining briefly who everyone is and how they are related to each other. This was great because there was a realistic number of important characters that were well rooted in the community and the reader can easily enter into this small town world where everyone knows everyone.

The farm aspect with the pregnant sheep and the big farm dinners and small town doctor that makes house calls really bring you into this humble life all these characters lead where you would never expect something so sinister to happen in such a town. You truly understand that level of shock and disbelief that the characters feel while also mourning the loss of a loved friend.

To really get into this novel, you do have to accept that not everything is going to be the most realistic, for instance a group of meddling women entering themselves into an investigation with no reproductions (like obstruction of justice) of not taking certain things to the police.

It was really cool to see a mystery from the side of small town women, though, and how gossip travels was v realistic in my opinion. And how the women's suspicions shift as they receive new information and piece together different relationships and evidence was very entertaining to read. And you go on this journey with the characters through the internal monologue of questioning the things that still don't quite add up.

And the plot twists throughout keep you wanting more. It's one of those "one more chapters" okay no never mind I'll just finish the whole thing and not get sleep kind of novels once you get past the first third of the novel. Characters shift from being lovable to suspicious and back to lovable and back to suspicious and it makes you question your own gut instincts when it comes to people. Would you be able to tell if someone you know, love and trust had it in them to commit murder?

Overall a very entertaining read.

I feel like the the mysteries in this series are beginning to repeat themselves. Long lost children or mysterious strangers....there has to be more going on in this town than that.

Lambswool Farm? Someplace new? Birdie's new venture. Not a lot of time is spent at the farm, as you would think by the title, but I'm sure more will happen there over time. Once again, no idea who had killed the Doctor until it was revealed. A bit of a different "feel" to this book, not sure why, but still just as good as the others.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

When I pick up a book by Sally Goldenbaum I feel like I am going to visit dear friends. I can’t believe this is book 11 in this series, meaning this is my 11th visit to Sea Harbor. This time we travel to Lambswool Farm. Birdie with the help of several Sea Harbor residents has given new life to the Favazza Family Farm. The fields are full of crops and there are sheep in the pasture. The farm will now serve diners huge farm to table dinners outside at huge table. (Check out the cover for a great picture.) I love this idea! But on the night the first meal is served a long time Sea Harbor resident dies. No one else even got sick, so there is definitely some cause other than the fabulous food. The Seaside Knitters need to find the truth before it not only ruins Birdie’s plans but tears the community apart.

The Seaside Knitters, Izzy, Nell, Cass and Birdie, along with their spouses, significant others, kids and friends are some of the best characters right now in cozy literature. Over the years the group has grown because as a whole they are all so welcoming. Knitting may have brought them together in the beginning but it is their friendships that have stood the test of time. (Don’t worry if you are new to the series or need a little refresher the author includes a cast list as the start of the book.) They welcome someone new to the group this time who seems to be just passing through but ends up staying longer than they planned.

The dialogue between the characters is genuine and smart. They all have different ways to process clues and it is fun to see how it all comes together in the end.

Great dialogue is born from a great story. The murder plot was so well written and knit together with everything else going on is Sea Harbor flawlessly. I really enjoy the way Ms. Goldenbaum tells a story. The death doesn’t happen early in the book. She lets the reader catch up with our favorite characters and all that is happening in their lives before we really need to sink our teeth in to trying to solve the mystery. Then she throws in some twists that have us doing a backstitch or two as she keeps us guessing right to the end.

I have enjoyed every virtual vacation to Sea Harbor. It is a beautiful place to visit full of wonderful people. I am ready to book my next trip there as soon as possible.

Thank you Sally for the wonderful trip!

Just here for the characters at this point. There's not even that much knitting involved anymore, and I feel like there was a missed opportunity in focusing on raising sheep since in theory the setting for this book is supposed to be Lambswool Farm. 11 books in and there's a huge cast of supporting characters. I wish Goldenbaum would pick a few to focus on each book instead of trying to at least mention everyone.
