It was enjoyable enough, but lacking compared to the first book... like the first book was a story plus a romance, but this one is a rather shallow romance without much story, and without much depth or development in the characters or their relationship. Luke could have been so deep and interesting as a character. Please. It's not all about skipping to the sex. Pleeease.
Smaller cast of characters, and feels limited by the fact that it all takes place in one location. Not much happens, and the depth of the romance isn't satisfying enough to make up for it. Maybe that's just me expecting too much? They can write "I love him I love him" as much as they want, but I never seem to feel it.

The first few chapters (setting up the story) were tough for me to get through but the rest was good. I like that KJ Charles doesn't shy away from writing normal people with flaws.

I love love loved book one in this series. KJ Charles has such a magical way of writing character arcs/development that makes me feel things. I didn’t think I’d like book 2 in this series as much as book one because KJ made Joss and Gareth so loveable but holy moly I would die for Rufus and Luke by association. Brilliant read, really enjoyable and fun and also sad and heartbreaking.

The Doomsday Books series returns for its second installment with 'A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel'. The story fast forwards over a decade from the events of 'The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen' and focuses on Luke Doomsday and Rufus d'Aumstey.

Like its predecessor, 'A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel' has smugglers, intrigue and inheritance disputes galore. Luke featured in the earlier book as a secondary character and events from the first book lay a major foundation for the second. Nonetheless, it's not essential to have read 'The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen' before reading 'A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel'.

If you liked book one, you are bound to enjoy this sequel. I also recommend this book to any readers looking for Regency-era historical romance set outside the typical world of upper-class London.
