Really enjoyed this. Took awhile to get everyone involved but when they did it all broke loose. It helps that I really like Chris. He makes an interesting hero with a real different tilt on his powers and where they come from. This gave us a bit more of that. Tanya's jealousy is a bit weird but it is what it is.

How to solve the "Superman problem?" When your character gets too strong, the reader loses their concern in any conflict situation. Traditionally, either stronger antagonists are introduced or the protagonist suffers a weakening.

It was with some trepidation that I watched Conroe choose to weaken Chris. It was handled well. As at the end of this book, I'm still wary. Please don't let it got wrong.

Excellent

Excellent as is becoming usual for this author. Tightly paced, this instalment deals with some old enemies, sets up some potential new ones, and still has time for character development.

So finishes the unfinished of the last book.
I think I liked this one because John has to find himself and learn who he is.
Spoiler Not only when he travels without Tanya because of the politics of the last book but because he ends up shot by a sniper and get amnesia, so a real reset on who he is.
That all the answers come here is a plus too.

The next book deals with a new character POV, of 2 of the two teens that protect his goddaughter. So it is nice that this one wasn't a CH. The next one is again.

#CantGetEnough

You know those books that seem to grab you and refuse to let you go? This series is that. I can't recommend them enough!

This one was, for me, a mixed bag. I thought much of the story seemed like filler and meandered a good bit. I'm not wild about the amnesia story line. I seems like a plot pacing device and I worry that it's going to subject me to more reiteration than I want to listen to.

I don't care for the faux love triangle. It casts a pale shadow on all of the participants: the Were because she's happy to openly attempt to lure someone out of their relationship; the Vamp for putting up with it (in spite of her rationale being explained, I think her acceptance of Stacia's is out of character); and the MC for not clearly stating he was off the market and the Were's attempts at luring him were deal breakers for their friendship. I hope there's a long-arc reason for being dragged through this dysfunction junction detour.

All that notwithstanding it was still an enjoyable read. The long hinted at, and perhaps now obvious, backgrounds of Tanya and Chris are overtly stated and clarified. Stacia's apparent advancing in the story line suggests she will become a more active secondary character rather than a passing third. The kidnapping arc was action packed.

I'm still enjoying the series, but this was not the strongest entry to date.
