a very uncomfortable read. nabakov's 'floral' writing directly contrasts the disgusting thoughts of humber and makes the experience of reading this ovel confusing. took me roughly 5 months to finish it as i kept having to take many breaks due to how dark the subject of this book is.
Graphic: Sexual assault, Pedophilia, Sexual harassment, and Child abuse

The plot left a bitter taste in my mouth; it was a challenge I set for myself, to read this book fully. I can safely say that I have done that and thanks to years of therapy, can stomach the similarities between Lolita's predicament and my own.
But I suppose the plot wasn't all that kept me morbidly curious - the language and descriptions (that were pages long at times) painted such a wonderous, dream-like images. Which, I suppose, is reminiscent of Humbert's outlook on his crimes and how he romanticises and downplays his actions. He always has his rose coloured glasses on.
I may have missed the entire point to this book, but that is my interpretation. I enjoyed it, if not for the words, but for the satisfaction of finishing something that would affect me without too many emotional repercussions.

I seriously don't know how to rate this book. It was horrible but at the same time extremely well written.
