Rating may change as I think about this more.
So cringy and horrible to read but in a way that made me NEED to finish it for closure. In a way it's a sign of my favorite kind of book when I can't stop reading even though I really want to.
I took a star off because while I've gotten a much thicker skin when it comes to horror lately, this was so brutal to its characters that made me feel sick to read. Also this type of body affecting horror may just be not my cup of tea. Still, I might come back and give 5 stars when my stomach settles and I'm able to think more critically. Huge respect (and a bit of fear) for authors that can make me hurt like this but keep reading.

It is definitely different to all of the books that I had read before. The reason why I did not give 5 stars is that the end could not fulfill my wishes.

Honestly I don’t even know how to rate this book lol. i’m giving it 3.5 landing right in the middle because that’s how i’m feeling after reading it.

The plot had a lot of potential, sapphic horror, a virus that changes people, a remote island and a school left to fend for themselves, with occasional help. it was definitely interesting. I feel like the writing could’ve been a bit better, i just felt the plot moved a bit slowly and took too long at places it shouldn’t have.

The ending though was the opposite, it moved too quickly and left too many loose threads. A lot of people didn’t like the ending, I didn’t mind it, I just felt it was rushed. The MC kinda annoyed me though, she was super selfish but I mean most teenagers are so I can’t really change my opinion on the book because of that.

Overall I liked the plot, it was a pretty good read, probably won’t read it again, but i’m not disappointed.
