Angela is driving home when she sees a sexy, tired, cowboy walking along the side of the road. She picks him up. His name is Troy. Angela offers Troy a temporary job as a ranch hand until one of her current ranch hands, Dusty is back on two feet. Angela can't resist a nice set of "buns". Troy has a nice set. Angela can't keep her hands off of them. Yet, Dusty wants in on the action as well. Angela is about to have herself some fun.

I have read this author's erotic paranormal books. The Cat Star series is a must read. Yet, this is my first taste of what Cheryl Brooks can do with cowboys. Which I just happen to have a weakness for.

OMG. Cheryl puts the "Wild" back into the Wild West! I had the biggest grin on my face. I would have to classify this book as a erotic, romantic, western, comedy. I don't think I have ever put all those words together to describe a book. Yet, if anyone can make it work, then Cheryl Brooks can.

One of the best lines I have read in a long time in a romance book "Doncha just love a slutty cowboy."

I love that Angela was the older woman in the story. She showed that age is just a number. I think she even taught Troy and Dustin a few things. Experience is the answer. I probably would have chosen both guys as well. I look forward to following this new series by this author.

I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

Should an Erotic Western Romance be hilarious?

This was an entertaining story full of humor and steamy sex. Angela is a widow who picks up a hitchhiking cowboy on the way home one day. She offers him a job as a ranch hand with the perk of being her boy toy. Little does she realize, taking him home will prompt her other employees to profess their love. They've all kept hidden, as they are repeatedly warned to stay away from her. The story had some really sappy moments, some hilarious times, a tiny bit of mystery as to who is causing the accidents, and a bit of steamy talk (and a lot of blow jobs). I had a hard time believing some of the things could happen, such as her ditching her boy-toy when she realizes she is just so in love with her ranch hand, and everyone was perfectly accepting of it. If you are looking for something entertaining, this is a decent book. It wasn't quite my cup of tea, as I'm not as enthusiastic about blow jobs, the humor was at times oddly placed, and the bunkhouse talk through the story (constantly comparing sizes and performance) just seemed a bit over the top.

Cowboy Heaven is a lighthearted yet highly erotic romance. This first installment in Cheryl Brooks' Cowboy Heaven series has a great cast of likable characters and a very eclectic storyline that is a little over the top but still enjoyable.

Angela McClure is a lonely widow whose libido is reawakened when she picks up a very sexy but down on his luck hitchhiker. Cowboy Troy Whitmore has just been dumped by his girlfriend and without the money to make to make it to his next rodeo, he accepts Angela's job offer to temporarily fill in for injured ranch hand Dusty Jackson. Zany mayhem ensues once Dusty figures out that Troy's job description also includes a little hanky-panky with Angela.

Angela is a sympathetic and likable character. She had a happy marriage with a very satisfying sex life but she has not dated anyone since her husband's death. As soon as she meets Troy, her attraction leads to a very explicit fantasy and an offer for him to become her boy toy. Angela is very candid about what she likes in bed and their sex scenes are deliciously naughty.

Although Angela tries to keep her extracurricular activities with Troy hidden from everyone else on the ranch, Dusty catches onto their arrangement right away. Dusty's reaction catches Angela off guard and forces her to re-evaluate her agreement with Troy. Dusty's discovery also provides her an opportunity to get to know the other ranch hands and she learns some rather shocking information about the men during a few very unorthodox but hilarious scenes.

Cowboy Heaven is a well-written novel that is humorous but somewhat silly. The storyline is unique but it is rather disjointed. It begins with a no strings fling that takes an unexpectedly serious turn after Angela and Troy's affair is discovered. A suspense element is thrown into the plot late in the novel and while it is fairly easy to guess who might be responsible, it is not so easy to discern a motive. The romance aspect of the storyline is wonderful but it gets a little lost among the other story arcs.

Although a little outrageous and slightly unrealistic, Cowboy Heaven is a very entertaining read. The cast of characters are superbly developed and it will be very interesting to see what Cheryl Brooks has planned for them in future installments of the Cowboy Heaven series.

9/6 - Alright, this is not working for me at all. There is absolutely no chemistry between Angela and Troy, or Angela and any of the ranch hands she uses to throw suspicion off the possibility of her having an affair with Troy (one of those aforementioned ranch hands, in case no one realised). Angela's reasoning for flirting with all the ranch hands to throw the suspicion off the idea of a relationship with Troy is so contrived it's laughable. It just seems like a horribly fake way to get the idea of Angela in the middle of a cowboy sandwich into the story. I'm not sure if anything actually happens because I haven't read that far, and likely never will.

Reading this makes me feel dirty, in a bad and disgusting way. This isn't romance, it's written down porn (as opposed to filmed porn) with all the feelings you would normally expect from that kind of movie. To me Angela and Troy act/feel like a pair of well-paid porn stars, not romantically linked characters in a romance, or even an erotica (in most of the eroticas I've read the characters exhibit some level of feeling for each other). DNF at page 60.

Considering the level of failure this book has reached I doubt I'll be making any effort to find any of Brooks' other books.
