Fun short Doctor Who story narrated by Catharine Tate. It is set not long after the Doctor and Donna started travelling together.
My main problem was keeping track of a couple of ancillary characters who seemed to switch jobs/personalities early on in the book.
A nice story and with an ending that isn't all sweetness and light... which is appreciated.

Could be because I listened to this on a train full of rowdy weekenders, and so my concentration wasn't always 100%, but by the high standards of the Donna era this story wasn't above average. Good, tho, and Catherine Tate performed it really well.

I was really looking forward to this one, as Donna is one of my favorite companions and I enjoy Catherine Tate in general. I thought she did a really good job, though I did think her 10th Doctor could have used with just a touch more life. The problem, however, is that Donna isn't really given much of the clever/breezy/funny lines that she does so well. Also, they are stuck in a story that feels a tiny bit inconsequential. I actually found the setting to be interesting, but character of Erskine seems a bit too much of a cackling two-dimensional baddy even if his connection to Lyric does deepen it some. There are some fun supporting characters, and between Duncan Wisby and Tate herself doing various voices, it feels like they have a bigger cast than they do.

Speaking of Erskine, I did think the leap of logic that Doctor makes about "saving Erskine" was a bit presumptuous! Hope he got that right! I mean, we know he did of course... but it was a pretty big chance, I think.

Donna, the companion, kind of ruined the book for me. Her sass comes of as if she’s Zaphod Beeblebrox - having two heads.

Might be I wasn't paying enough attention, but it's just kind of meh. The characters are kind of boring and the adventure takes itself a bit more seriously than it merits. Maybe I should resisted, but it just didn't strike me as all that interesting.

Listened to the version read by Catherine Tate and Duncan Wisbey. Another fun adventure with The Doctor and Donna!
