Okay, so I think we all need a little fluff in our reading life, and "The soulmate equation" is a feel-good book, where we can expect a happy-ever-after ending after the first chapter (though I would have given a 5-star if the dating app/eugenics but not quite here take a darker turn, Black Mirror-style).

The plot is cliché as in every other rom-com movie, with a dashing male lead: hot, smart, douche in the beginning but actually a nerdy, sweet guy who also happens to love children and family, and of course, a god in bed. And then we have a female lead, who is a strong independent woman in STEM, with an average look but then transformed into a goddess. They had to get to know each other, for the science of course, but also for 30k and for publicity before IPO. Just when everything is perfect, they discovered the terrible secret, argued, and got back together in 3 chapters (I think). This is probably the weakest plot twist, that they fought so feebly and reconciled so fast, I was disappointed.

But yeah, I can't really complain because the book was set out to be and delivered the promise. Definitely fun to read

I usually really enjoy books by the Christina Lauren team, but I couldn't get myself to finish this one, I stalled completely on Chapter 8.

-I liked Jess, she felt realistic, bringing Juno up, working and trying to pay the bills. She was smart, kind and family orientated. The stress of her morning routine, trying to get Juno ready and to school felt very familiar! It took me a while to warm up to River, he was quite an unlikeable, workaholic, aloof character to begin with. I did end up liking him more as the story progressed,(except for towards the end, I was back to not liking him for his actions after the bad news).
-Jess and River did have some chemistry and banter, but it didn't make me swoon.. There wasn't enough sparks
- loved Jess's best friend Felicity/Fizzy, she added such a strong BFF vibe and a dose of humor that was sometimes really needed.
