A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess

One of the best love interests in chick lit, I thought. And Burgess does a very good job of making her heroines quirky and fallible -- sometimes to the point where you want to shake them -- but without overdoing it. It's easy to get caught up in her stories and race through to the end where you know that somehow it's all going to end up ok.

At first I did not like her writing style, but after page 10 I was hooked on the main character's narrative in dialogue and even the pacing of each chapter. I fell in love with the plot, as it spoke to the hopeless romantic in me. It is a testament to the book that I finished it in three days and cracked the spine ever chance I had. I now feel a loss and miss the character's and their problems. I want to move on, but am still living in the world of A Girl Like You.

I was both smiling through this book and feeling grateful I’m not in my twenties anymore. Funny, real look at friends, career, and love among a group of 20 something’s in London. Plus a lot of drinking.

There’s a strong Bridget Jones Diary vibe through this book but with far less weight obsession and self-loathing.

Humorous, realistic, and warm—this was a fun read. It would also make a great movie or series as the rom-com elements are strong.

3,5 stars rounded up just because.
The MC was kind of silly, and oblivious but she made up for it.

Once in a while (quite frequent actually), whenever I get stuck and wants to get my "book-groove" back, I'll start on a chick-lit. Works every time ;)
