Really enjoyed this one. Zola is one of the great dissectors of human emotions and relationships and it's interesting to see him work on a smaller scale. It's no "Nana" and certainly no "Germinal" but this one has stayed with me and I think about it regularly.

Involves world's first foursome featuring a man, a woman, a ghost and a cat.

Spoiler alert - no orgasms were achieved during aforementioned foursome.

Oof. A brilliantly told but deeply unpleasant story.

An interesting and considered approach to the translation.
