I think, with this one, I've officially read everything that M. Hollis has published at the moment. I've greatly enjoyed their Lillac series, was a little disappointed with Ripped Pages, and then there's this one. It's a very short, very cute novelette that I was unsure I'd like. I'm not the biggest fan of fashion or make up, and I'm not even that into romance at all. The only reason I picked this up was because of the author. And, I do have to admit that I enjoyed this one more than I was expecting.

There were tiny comments and details that made me feel very connected to Grace, the MC, and I felt for her when she was stood up on her date. I also really enjoyed how she and Sol met as well as their relationship. It was very enjoyable, and a very quick read.

The ending was also very sweet, and I'm glad that it turned out that way. People get these types of stories for M/F all of the damn time, but it was refreshing to see it for a sapphic couple for once.

Final Rating: Four Stars

Overall?

It just felt like it was missing something. Maybe it needed more depth, in both characters and the setting. I really don't know, but something was missing. Otherwise, I look forward to reading more of M Hollis's works!

Would I Recommend?

If you're looking for a quick, cute read for sapphic needs, yes.

Absolutely adorable! I don't think anyone can help but smile at this sweet romantic short story. Another face from N Hollis!

Pairing: F/F

Rep: lesbian MC, bisexual Latina LI (another reviewer said she was Mexican)

Warnings: comfort eating, challenged sexism

I’m writing this on my phone so I don’t forget anything. Apologies for any typos.

This is a short, sweet story. I related heavily to both MCs being in their mid-twenties and not feeling like they’re where they should be in life. Both are unapologetically feminine and their meeting was adorable. The story was a bit underdeveloped but still extremely enjoyable.

Grace goes to the mall to meet her date, although she never appears. So Grace decides to do one of her favorite activities: shopping. She is having fun when suddenly the lights go off and she is locked in the store. And she is not alone, Sol has been left behind too.

It's so beautiful, sweet and funny. I love this kind of story where the protagonist and love interest met in unexpected situations, like being left in the mall. Maria's story is fluffy and wonderful. Yes, it's short but I felt their spark. I would love to read more about Sol and Grace.

Also, can we have more queer chick lit, please?

Cute, light fluff

Cute story, but not a lot of depth or feelings for me. It has a lot of potential for a full-length meet-cute, but not a lot happening. I’d still recommend this for a quick little meet-cute, but that’s really the extent of the story by my estimation.
