The man, the myth and the absolute legend Roughead. A true Hawthorn legend that deserves every good thing that comes his way. It so heartbreaking reading his story about how he dealt with cancer but his perspective on life was refreshing. Wouldn’t say this book is for everyone but if you like AFL you’d love this book.

Many AFL fans, whatever the club, like Jarryd Roughead. He seems a “genuine bloke” who is relatable.
As a four-time premiership player who returned to the game after a serious cancer, you might have high expectations. Don’t.
The cancer was terrible and frightening and his football career will probably have him in the AFL Hall of Fame within 6 years. But not a satisfying read.

The footy stuff was all your pretty standard ex-player biography material (although I'm a Hawks fan so I LOVED the insider details). However the story of Roughy's cancer journey was really interesting, and I did enjoy the short reflections of others around him as he tackled his health challenges
