loved the poetic prose and overall writing style. the exploration of topics such as  death/grief, mental health and how the age of social media allows us to always be aware of the suffering across the globe affects our mental health, gender and socioeconomic themes was worded beautifully yet sometimes in an abstract and bizarre way. definitely literary fiction and not very plot driven, though I really enjoyed the obscure aspect of this book.
only removing .5 stars because the blurb at the back is definitely a misleading description of what to expect from the book.

This was a great read - it was unique, powerful and a different perspective on death and grief.
You're taken on a journey, and I really enjoyed the poetic style of writing. I can imagine it's not for everyone though, especially because some of the stories told (eg serial killers, murder, abuse). I did feel like the storyline disappeared a bit halfway, but the ending made up for that. Overall, this book really moved me and I definitely recommend it.

Was too intense and complex for my current state of mind. May revisit in the future

I really loved this - I found listening to the audio book narrated by the author while I read the physical book truly enhanced this experience. This is not a traditional novel, it's poetry mixed with prose and therefor, in my opinion, needs to be performed for the audience to truly immerse themselves in it. And who better to perform this work than the author themselves, who can masterfully weave their intention into their intonation. I found Salena's voice to be soothing, comical, emotional, beautiful. I think without hearing her words from her mouth, I would have struggled with this book pondering and musing over death.

It doesn't get 5 stars because, while some lines will stick with me forever "my phone is full of dead people", I felt the ending fizzled away. And, I wasn't necessarily keen on the narrator's sanity and understanding of the situation (that they could converse and be a conduit for Death) being questioned.
