I was expecting more about Black Hawk's life in his villages, hunting the prairie and other lifestyle memories. This, however, is about war with the Americans and his betrayal by same.

This was an audiobook read by Michael Lackey in a lackluster monotone that at least I finished faster after I sped it up.

(read for class) really, truly, gives one a unique perspective on not only black hawk and the sauk's experience with encroaching settlers, but on native life as a whole during this time

very very interesting biography. writing is so dry but the actual content more than makes up for that, though it does function best alongside a more formal history rather than as a standalone book

I had to read this for a class I took at university. It was interesting.

I'd give it a better rating, but the second half is just accounts from soldiers and such, which just confirms that settlers in that period were horrible people
