This was the least favorite of his books, but still a fun listen.

Another author that needs a better editor. Too many side plots and WAY to much boring detail. I took it as long as I could because I was interested in the main plot. Eventually I had to skip to the end just to learn the outcome.

This turned out to be a pretty good beach read.

I enjoyed the mystery set here in Virginia, and the legal thriller was decent. I especially liked the supporting characters like Tolliver, Lettie and MJ (especially her legal entanglement with a Furry). I was not a fan of Lisa and Joe as much as I would have liked. Despite they're perfection (Lisa's so beautiful she dazzles men! And she's smarter than Joe! Joe is so nice that he'll give clients the shirt off his back and he drives a moped... not sure why) the whole adultery angle seemed forced and ugly, and it kept me at arms length. Although, I suppose if the Hubs started saying "Great Googley Moogley" I might plot to kill him... but I still wouldn't cheat on him. Of course, my beauty can't stop traffic either, so who am I to judge what I'd do in Lisa's shoes.

The bad: Adultery, dead dogs, and a trip to the dentist that made me extremely uncomfortable. Also a certain tattoo at the end.

The meh: Joe's lame swear words, the plot was a little jumpy, some of the details the author noted were just weird and jarring- Lisa and Joe talking, she notices he has food on his sleeve, says. nothing.

The good: The stakes were high. Garrison was a great villain. Joe and Lisa made a good team, and the pitfalls of a long marriage were realistic. Loved a lot of side characters, front hackers in poplin to mentally ill geniuses, Henry County seems like a place I'd want to live. I liked the ending too.

In the end. I enjoyed it. Not sure I would have stuck with though if it hadn't been for book club.

This was an enjoyable read - sort of like John Grisham, but with more sex. I just didn't think there was anything 'wow' about it. I was entertained by the fact that it was written by a sitting judge. As a lawyer, it's fun to think our judges might be basing characters in their stories off of us. Haha.

started out well with quirky characterizations, but then got bogged down in the middle

This took me way longer to read than I would like to admit, but overall I did enjoy it.
