I think I picked this book up without knowing that this was a collection of short stories, or that it is a part of a bigger series. It didn't matter, because the stories were quite enjoyable. It is set in Botswana and the main character, David Bengu (Kubu) is wonderful.

I'm a fan of this series because of the setting and the characters and this short book of short stories doesn't disappoint. It's a very short book and I finished it in a sitting of maybe an hour. It consists of 6 shorts(?) which are quick and easy to read.

None of them are masterful head scratchers but they are all full of local flavor. There isn't really enough time to set up the character of the protagonist Kubu but the stories do a good job of putting us in Botswana. I would recommend this book to fans of Kubu or maybe a quick way to start someone in the series.
