My first impression of Goodnight Beautiful was that it was incredibly fast paced and I knew exactly what was going on....yeah right!! I read part one thinking I knew whose POV I was reading and where the story was headed. *Note, the chapters are not labeled and you have to guess who is actually narrating.* Then part one ended and I was utterly confused. Everything I thought I knew was incorrect.
Part two cleared up some of my confusion, but after the way part one ended I questioned every thought and theory I had. I desperately needed to know what was going to happen next and I couldn’t stop turning the pages. This book clocks in just under 300 pages and can easily be read in one day, which makes this a great binge read.
I will say that I didn’t feel super connected to our main characters, Sam and Annie. There wasn’t a single reason why and I didn’t dislike them by any means. There wasn’t a ton of character development for either of them and they were pretty surface level. My favorite POV was unknown for about half of the book and I found him incredibly interesting. Molloy conveyed his troubled life so well that I actually connected with him the most (not sure what that says about me).
Overall, the book was a quick read and I enjoyed it. I did want more from the ending and felt that it all tied up too nicely. If you’re a fan of fast paced thrillers that keep you guessing then you’ll enjoy this one!

It’s definitely plot-focused, but there are some nice character touches throughout and a small amount of development in our main characters. I didn’t really fall in love with any of the characters, but the story had me caring about what happened to them.
The plot will keep you on your toes, and it’s not very long, so if you’re looking for a book that will completely suck you in for a few hours, this will do the trick. I do think the ending was a bit abrupt and rushed. I can’t recommend the audiobook enough though—another stellar listen!
Thank you to Libro.fm, Harper Audio, and the author for my copy.
I feel like I can’t say much more about this book without it being a spoiler…but it’s one that’s more enjoyable if you go in knowing nothing!
Read if you like: psychological thrillers, fresh takes on thriller stereotypes, eavesdropping, stalking people on social media.
